Today I put a spider outside for my slightly more arachnophobic roommate. I felt more accomplished doing this than from all of my academic achievements this year.

That being said, have a video! (Psst, [info]laronmi! It has Stephen Fry!)

Romance in the Jungle: Part Whatever )

So what if it has little to do with my post?

...I put in my mood as "accomplished," but it's coming out as "undefined." What?

"Ok, it's 6 in the morning and I've got to stay quiet. My roommate is sleeping and I don't want to distu-HURK HURK HURK COUGH WHEEEEEZE..."

[2 or 3 tissues later]

"Now that that's over with, I'll-[SNEEZE!] Oh, crud, ewww..."

I could totally make this into a monologue. But yes, for about an hour every morning my body needs to violently expel a night's worth of illness or something. MAKING UP FOR LOST TIME.

I'm more glad than ever that I wake up early to begin with. I hardly even thought about stuff like this when I lived in the dorms.

[As a side note, I've had an unusual number of people concerned for me because of my coughing. Do I really sound that bad? I honestly thought it improved since college.]

So I have a paper and 2 exams next week, one of them an oral exam, and I think I'm getting sick.

I don't know whether to stay up later and try to get work done, or go to bed now and wake up sicker. The eternal dilemma.

On the other hand, Grandma came by and gave me food. Apples, banana nut bread, and canned veggies, please!

Hello Livejournal! I forgot you existed.

Finally I got my computer fixed. It's been messed up for the past month and a half. Apparently it was an .exe file problem that made everything but my internet impossible to open. But I didn't need to do a software overhaul, thank goodness. I was prepared to do it, but I couldn't back up all of my files.

That, and I've been trying to write another dream post. I'm a little surprised at how long it's been taking me. Month and a half, what. Might have something to do with the fact that I keep losing half of what I write for it. Blergh.

Also, have a video. I've been stumbling upon some creepy stuff lately. Just in time for Halloween.

Oh, childhood. )

Also, I apologize for having nothing but creepy poetry on my LJ for two or three months. It happens.

A general list of what I've been doing during the second half of my summer. May not be coherent.

I know I'm forgetting things, but this is getting too long. Whether summer is treating you well or not, it will be over soon, and it'll be a new, magical year! Whooo!

Wrote my first poem in the apartment today. Thought I should share it. I tried writing it with rhyme and meter. Not sure how it works yet.

A lady stood upon a hill;
a carving knife in hand.
The blood of many choir boys
have flecked the marching band.
The tender skin of tenors wrapped
like gloves around her hands,
and scalps of baritones she holds
to sell in distant lands.

I'll write more about my apartment shenanigans some other time~

[[info]Monday is sitting at the computer, while her brother sits nearby]

Monday: So, what did you and your friends do yesterday?
Brother: IDK.
Monday: What?! You were there! You should know!
Brother: IDK.
Monday: What kind of response is "IDK" anyway?!
Monday: IDK.
Monday: RRRRGGHHH

Actually, I lied. Have some moments with Grandma, too:

Grandma: You should become a blogger.
Monday: You think?
Grandma: Yeah. You're on the internet a lot, and you have a lot of opinions.
Monday: Mmm. [keeps typing]

Maybe I do, but are they opinions people would read? :P

Monday: [still typing]
Grandma: You could become a translator for Japanese.
Monday: [mildly sarcastic] ...Yeah.

Eureka! I've never thought of that before!! You're the best, Grandma.

The LJ B-day background blends in nicely with my Monday Moon icon. I am pleased.

Aaaanyway, I haven't been doing much. I've still been dreaming, but I don't really want to put them on LJ because they're serious/long/might make me look PRETENTIOUS AND FAUX-DEEP and that's the last thing I want to do. There's too many dumbasses on here trying to be deep. Pfah.

I got sick a week ago but that didn't stop me from going to a nearby sushi place with the high school Japanese club. I pretty much blew my nose the entire time. But after a week it cleared up. Also, SUDAFED SUCKS.

Today was my brother's last day of school, so he'll be here more often, which probably means less computer time, but it doesn't really matter since I prefer to hole up in my room all day.

And what better way to spend that time than video games! Playing Disgaea, Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon and Pokemon AGAIN at the same time, because I have video game ADD. I tried playing Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, but it died again THE SAME WAY. I'm never gonna get to play this game!

The end of school also means that Grandma will retire and start living here, which will mean cleaning the house for weeks upon weeks. And then more family time. Which is funny because I was just beginning to think maybe getting that job might be a good idea? But I'll probably get to go to the beach again, which is A++.

EDIT: Also, I want everyone here to know that this makes my 69th post! Awww yeaaaah.

Today, as I was eating, my cat walked in front of me to throw up in three places on the carpet. Then, my dog walks up and starts eating it IN TINY INCREMENTAL AMOUNTS. NOISILY.

Oh, also, I got sick on Monday(of course), and have been spending the past two days trying to chase it out of me. I'm going to eat sushi tomorrow and don't want to look like disease. Fuck you, 30 degree weather.

Some good news is that I tried the rose tea today and thought it was very nice. I think I put too little in this time(four rosebuds), but I'm not sure. Is rose tea supposed to be nearly colorless?

For a while, after reading a lot of books about nature in libraries and in bookstores, my ignorant child self thought there was nothing left surprising about nature, and moved on to other things. Clearly I didn't read enough about mating.

So you thought scorpion sex was weird? How about this:

After watching this video, I'm now more confused about the subject than ever. I...may have to read more about this, or I'll get nightmares about slugs boning until I put my questions to rest.

The other day on the way home from the Orthodontist I saw a truck with PLASTIC TESTICLES dangling from the back bumper. I couldn't stop staring at it in disbelief. Why? Why would you bother? You already drive a huge vehicle; what does hanging a pair of oversized fake balls do to enhance that overcompensation?!

What hit it home was that somewhere this is a product being DISPLAYED AND SOLD IN A STORE.

I leave for mah learnin's for a semester, and stuff like this happens. What's next, a pandemic scare? Oh, wait...
